Frankenstein!!!!

One of our recent topic has concerned the GOTHIC NOVEL, its origin and development and, actually, the figure of Frankenstein through fiction and movies is the one on which we have concentrated most of all.

Mary Shelley published anonimously her novel Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus in 1818.

The idea of writing a fightful story came into her mind after the competition with a group of friends who had gathered at her husband's country house on the banks of Lake Geneve.

Among them there were Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron and his friend Polidori who wrote The Vampire, a novelette published in 1819 which marked the passage from GOTHIC to HORROR story.

Students have written compositions focusing on two specific aspects of the novel Frankenstein:

a) The relationship CREATOR/CREATURE

b) The role of SCIENCE in the 18th and 19th century
